Go on an organizational/marketing ghost hunt

Winchester Mansion History

Following the death of the firearm magnate William Winchester, his wife Sarah Winchester, began construction on the Winchester Mansion. Using the Winchester fortune she turned her quaint 4-bedroom cottage into a sprawling 24,000 sq ft mansion with 160 rooms, 6 kitchens, 2,000 doors, and 10,000 windows. The mansion is renowned for its size, its architectural curiosities, and its lack of any master building plan. The property and mansion were claimed by many to be haunted by the ghosts of those killed with Winchester rifles. Under Winchester's day-to-day guidance, its "from-the-ground-up" construction proceeded around the clock, by some accounts, without interruption, until her death in 1922.

Organizational & Marketing Ghosts

Many organizations today approach growth, impact, and marketing with the same “from-the-ground-up” approach. Organizations seek to appease the metaphorical ghosts that haunt their organization, their impact, and their marketing. Have you seen evidence of any of these ghosts in your organization?

“We could never do that”

“We’ve always done it this way”

“The board tells us that we must…”

“Our clients/audience are always flaky”

“We have never used that social media platform”
